Founded by Kirk Nelson in 2019, La Loma Projects is defined by its focal relationships with artists, representing and working with select emerging and mid-career luminaries in diverse ways while conceiving a nimble exhibition program that puts artistic and curatorial vision at the forefront.
While undoubtedly attuned to the aesthetic concerns of this specific historical moment, La Loma Projects provides a platform for community, collaboration and scholarship. Both global and local in practice and perspective, the artists who exhibit with La Loma Projects embed their work with personal content and simultaneously grapple, in mood and material, with the ironies and pleasures of California.
La Loma Projects has two spaces in Los Angeles with its primary gallery in Highland Park and Annex location in Pasadena encompassing an outdoor sculpture garden in addition to pop-up presentations and satellite teams stationed around the world. These offer diverse opportunities to engage viewers, and elicit inspiration, surprise, delight, and self-reflection.
The debut exhibitions at La Loma Projects encompassed presentations with esteemed artists Haley Barker, Rebecca Morris and Jennifer Rochlin local to the Pasadena community.
